Local to London, Drawstring have recently finished their week long UK tour with another Kent band, Eat Me. On Wednesday the 27th of April, I had the pleasure of seeing Drawstring play at Gringos, Norwich (however due to complications were unable to see the wonderful Eat Me, but definitely check their EP out at www.eatmetheband.bandcamp.com) - and my God, was it a night.
Drawstring formed back in July 2014, playing their first gig a year later, and have since released three EP’s between June 2015 and December 2015 – my favourite being the third, Three. The band have also released a number of cassette tapes.
Drawstring is made up of two boys; Sam Shepherd on guitar and vocals, and Ben Schulze on drums and vocals. When seeing the duo perform, hearing their songs and spending a night out together, the amount of hard work they have both put into the band is very noticeable. The pair share song writing and have recorded many of their tracks in Sam’s room. Just before the UK tour, Drawstring were lucky enough to travel around Europe with Coloured In, which has started to create a small fan base for them.
The duo identify themselves as an emo-pop band, a genre that covers the likes of Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco and Good Charlotte; however, I find this doesn’t reflect Drawstring's sound or attitude, so you’ll have to listen to their newest EP for free at www.drawstring.bandcamp.com/album/three. Be sure to check out their previous two EP's, which are available here.

P.S. When I asked Sam for a fact about the band, he told me they were named after a Pity Sex song, and I find that sentence sums up both Ben and Sam perfectly.
